Today is the annual Safer Internet Day, and this year the theme is ”Be the change: Unite for a better internet.” The message this year is that each individual has a role to play in creating a safer and better Internet for the world.
Safer Internet Day (SID) was established in 2004 in Europe, and is now recognized by over 120 countries, including all of the countries in the European Union. This day of recognition is intended to raise awareness of Internet related risks and help people make better decisions regarding their personal safety and sensitive data. Last year, more than 19.5 million people participated in SID activities in Europe, while over 400 million people joined in the SID conversation on Twitter.
There are awareness and activism events taking place all over the world today.
